Matted Coat Shave Policy Agreement
Pets with matted or severely knotted coats require extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in the pet’s coat only grow tighter/larger and can damage the pet’s skin, cause bruising, cause secondary skin infections, or even eventually tear the skin open. Mats can be very painful and difficult to remove and will require the pet to be shaved. We do not hand de-mat because it can be extremely painful and very stressful for the dog, furthermore hand de-matting can’t guarantee all matts have been removed, which puts dogs at risk for further skin/coat damage and infection.
When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risk of a dramatic change in your pet’s appearance, hotspots, nicks, cuts, bruising, swelling, abrasions, moles, rashes or skin folds trapped/hidden in the mats.
Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow agitating prior skin conditions.
Dogs with extensive matting or knotting will require a full shave down. Shaving matted coats requires great skill, time and caution. Because of the extra process involved with shaving matted coats, extra fee’s will apply and additional grooming time will be needed.
I agree to the possible charges and shaving for excessive matting for my pet(s).

Shaving Double Coat Policy Agreement
Shaving a double coated dog for any reason other than to solve a medical condition, or to remove severe matting, is highly discouraged. Some dogs that fall into this category are, but not limited to: Huskies, Akita, Shiba Inu, Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, Shetland Sheepdog, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundland, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Pomeranian, Border Collie, and German Shepards.
Shaving a double coated dog can permanently change the texture of the outer coat and ruin the dogs natural cooling process. Double coated breeds shed their under coat during the summer to increase airflow while the thinner outer coat protects them from sun damage to their skin and heat. On the contrary, their undercoat serves as important insulation during the winters.
If shaved, both coats will grow in together trapping excess heat within your pups coat during summer and less insulation during cold winters. Shaving these coats will put your dog at risk of sunburn, skin irritation, and most importantly overheating and or hypothermia.
I agree to the possible charges and risks caused by shaving double coat for my pet(s).
